Acorn Minutes for January 3, 2006

Board in Attendance: Wendy Davis, Lordelyn del Rosario-Dacanay, Michelle Jones, Susan Hunter

Call to order – Meeting opened at 9:15 am

I. Treasury Report

A.     Michelle reported the current balance to be $6990.20 Wendy D. made a motion to approve the treasury report.  Lordelyn seconded. Unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

II.     Fundraising Items

A.      T-shirt fundraiser –  Susan H passed out order forms for review. 

B.     eScript:  Vons/Safeway – Susan H will discuss eScript at parent meeting.

C.     Rummage sale – The date for the rummage sale has been set for May 5^th.

D.     Other ideas for fundraisers. Board briefly discussed gourmet breakfast fundraiser that Maleah wants to do for her parent job.  We will ask her to write a proposal and the board will review.

III.   New Food Menu

A.     Board reviewed new food menu.  Wendy D. will revise list and incorporate menu in Acorn calendar.

IV.  Media Coverage Review

A.     Current media placements for Children of the World Series

1.                  December 20 – Goldrushcam.com/Sierra Sun Times

2.                   December 22 – Mariposa Gazette

3.                   Lordelyn will follow-up with editor of the Sierra Star to check if paper ran the story

B.     Lordelyn will draft a press release announcing that Acorn is now enrolling and send to Mariposa Gazette.

V.     Parent Jobs

A.     Wendy M.  will discuss with parents what we need for the dramatic play boxes (i.e. veterinary and other boxes!)

VI.  Parent Meeting Tuesday, January 23

A.     Board discussed items that will be discussed at the parent meeting and who will be speaking (Did I get all of this??)

1.                   Fees/snacks - Wendy D

2.                   Quarterly jobs, Acorn Calendar – Wendy M

3.                   Fundraising success  - Michelle

4.                   eScript – Susan H.

VII.             Pre K Group

A.     This will be a 10-week course for kids who will be entering or at the age to enter kindergarten in the fall.

VIII.         Items for discussion

A.     Work days – Dates for work days to be determined.

B.     Parent/Teacher conferences – Wendy M will hold parent/teacher conferences for kids 3-5 years old starting in January. 

C.     Hearing screenings – Wendy M to follow up.

F.  Children of the World Series – Wendy M. to line up speakers for spring semester.

Next meeting will be Wednesday February 7, 9 am.  Meeting adjourned 11:00 am.
