Acorn Minutes for August 21, 2006

Call to order – Meeting opened at 9:15 am
I. Decisions on Enrollment Cap for Opening Fall 2006
a. Discussion regarding the program budget and movement toward licensing, and how that affects enrollment capacity. Wendy made a motion to cap the ACP enrollment to 34 students including infants. Michelle seconded. Unanimous vote in favor of the motion.
b. Wendy made a motion to set the ACP enrollment fee to $25.00 per student. Infants (0-12 months) who accompany older siblings will be free. Lordelyn seconded the motion. Unanimous vote in favor of the motion.
II. Items of Note
a. Cubbies, castors not needed
b. Gate locks are a work in progress
c. Need to add plywood and hooks to the back of inside shed. Michelle will check if husband has extra plywood.
d. Wendy D will print and assemble parent handbook.
e. Sandbox cover will be done by the start of school.
f. Wendy M will check food/water supplies to see if we need to purchase before September 7.
g. Rent – Michelle says that our budget is set to pay rent at the church from September – June.
III. Wendy M’s Items to discuss
a. Wendy M has developed quarterly job descriptions for members
b. Discussion on additional school and office supplies needed.
c. Wendy M has also developed daily duty descriptions to post.
d. The Board members will help Wendy M supervise quarterly jobs and each board member will sign up for 2-3 quarterly jobs to supervise.
IV. Items to be discussed at parent meeting on Thursday, August 31, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
a. Wendy M and Wendy D to meet Monday, August 28, 2006 to discuss agenda for parent meeting.
V. Items noted at First 5 meeting regarding ACP
a. There was concern at the August 14 (Grant funding) First 5 meeting with our program not being licensed and “checked” by state monitors. ACP is currently looking into licensing for the preschool.
b. Phyllis Becker of First 5 greatly approved of the “Mandatory Parent Meetings” and how ACP is running the organization in a professional manner.
c. First 5 seemed to appreciate the fact that the preschool is the only preschool serving the “inner” Mariposa area and also the only preschool serving families, both kids 0-5 and parents.
The next board meeting will be Wednesday, September 6, 9 am at the preschool. Meeting adjourned 11:00 am.
