Acorn Grant Status

UPDATE 5/15/07--First 5 Awarded ACP our entire Grant!! $22,823 for the Fall 2007-08 School Year!

The First 5 commission met Monday June 13 to review and make decisions on current grant applications. Our grant which covers the Teacher/Director and the Teacher's Aide salaries was approved unanimously! :)

UPDATE 8/15/06--First 5 Awarded ACP our entire Grant!! $20,300 for the Fall 2006-07 School Year!

The First 5 commission met Monday August 14 to review and make decisions on current grant applications. They reviewed grants alphabetically, mini grants first, maxi grants following.

Other Good News! Cathey's Valley "Home of the Ponies" also was awarded their entire grant amount. Congratulations!!

UPDATE 04/11/06

Acorn Preschool was awarded $7K from First 5 Commission April 10, 2006. The money will be used for equipment such as tricylces, scooters, outdoor play equipment, preschool quality play kitchen and dramatic play area, and other items.

The Commission may consider allowing the current grant holders the option of re-applying for funds for the upcoming fiscal year (Fall 2006 thru Spring 2007) at their next meeting on May 22, 2006. A new grant will have to be submitted by the end of June 2006.

UPDATE 03/01/06

Acorn Preschool was awarded $20K from First 5 Commission in January. The money is being spent on staffing, rent, insurance, equipment, supplies, food for children, etc. The First 5 Commission will consider awarding the preschool an additional 7K at their March meeting for equipment such as tricylces, scooters, outdoor play equipment, preschool quality play kitchen and dramatic play area, and other items. The Commission may consider giving the preschool funds for next year at the April or May meeting, but have expressed that they want to see the preschool move toward self-sustainability soon.
